Hi, I'm Daniël 👋🏻
I'm a software engineer with over 12 years of experience building and delivering software solutions. I started out as a full stack developer, worked my way through backend and frontend roles at companies like TransIP, Lightbase, and VodafoneZiggo, and now lead a full stack engineering chapter. I care about writing code that is functional and maintainable, and about helping other engineers do the same.
Below you'll find an overview of my experience, education, and the roles I've held. Feel free to reach out, I'd love to connect.
Experience
May 2025 - Present
VodafoneZiggo, UtrechtTech4C Full stack Chapter Lead
As one of four Full Stack Chapter Leads within Tech4C, I share responsibility for the growth and performance of the full stack engineering chapter in VodafoneZiggo's agile organization. Together, we cover four key areas: setting the technical vision while leading by example through hands-on contributions (Content), coaching engineers as their people manager covering hiring, development, and HR (People), raising the bar on engineering standards and best practices (Craftsmanship), and planning workforce allocation to ensure the right skills are available across squads and tribes (Workforce).
September 2023 - May 2025
VodafoneZiggo, UtrechtFrontend Developer at Priority.nl
As a Frontend Developer in the Priority team at VodafoneZiggo, I develop and maintain both frontend and backend applications, while also taking on DevOps tasks to automate deployments and improve monitoring. Beyond day-to-day development, I planned and led the migration of multiple Java Spring Boot backends to Node.js.
January 2022 - March 2023
Lightbase, UtrechtTech Lead
As Tech Lead at Lightbase, I set the technical direction for projects, translating business problems into technical requirements and defining scope based on the runtime, external services, and client needs. Alongside this, I provided guidance and support to team members throughout development.
September 2019 - March 2023
Lightbase, UtrechtBackend Developer (NodeJS)
As a Backend Developer at Lightbase, I built and maintained server-side applications, designing APIs, integrating third-party services, and ensuring scalability and security. I continuously looked for ways to optimize performance and collaborated closely with Team Core on standardization and documentation.
November 2018 - October 2020
Exit 0, UtrechtOwner & Developer
I ran my own company for two years, primarily to take on freelance projects that required a formal business entity for contracting purposes.

Education
February 2018 - August 2018
University of AmsterdamM.Sc. in Software Engineering (not finished)
With years of practical experience behind me, I wanted to go deeper into the fundamentals of computer science. I explored compiler theory to understand what happens below the abstractions I work with every day.
February 2016 - July 2016
University of AmsterdamMinor Programming
As part of my bachelor's degree, I completed a minor at the University of Amsterdam to prepare for the M.Sc. in Software Engineering. The main project involved building a Python program that used heuristics-based algorithms to find shortest paths across a multidimensional representation of a multi-layer silicon chip.
September 2013 - June 2017
University of Applied Sciences Amsterdam (HvA)BASc in Software Engineering
This degree gave me a theoretical foundation for the skills I'd taught myself, moving from trial and error to structured software engineering.
September 2008 - June 2013
Leidsche Rijn College (LRC), UtrechtSenior general secondary education (HAVO)
Specialization: Science and Technology (Natuur & Techniek).
